Everything a story needs. One crew, start to finish.

What we do

One stage or all of them.

We do the research, the writing, the shoot, the edit and the stills ourselves, so your story never gets lost passing from one vendor to the next. You can bring us in for a single shoot day or for the whole thing, and if you already have a crew, we can step in wherever you need a hand, from a lens to a full kit to an extra set of eyes. Either way, we shape the work around what the film has to do, not around a package. Here's everything we can take on for you:

  1. 01

    Story

Every good film starts with knowing who it's for and what it has to do, and we find that out by asking good questions and checking our sources. Our SITREP research into your craft, your peers and your industry points us to the story worth telling, and then we write it and plan where it will play.SITREP research, concepts, treatments, scripts, storyboards, distribution plans

  2. 02

    Production

This is everything from the first call sheet to the last shot. We find the right people and places, then bring cinema cameras, lighting, sound and aerials, run by a crew with a decade in the field. The same eye shoots your stills, on location or in the studio, and if you already have a crew, our kit and our people can step in wherever you need a hand.Producing, locations, directing, cinematography, lighting, sound, drone, stills and portraits

  3. 03

    Editing

This is where the story comes together. We edit, color, mix and add graphics, then cut a version for every place the film needs to play.Editing, color grading, sound mix, motion graphics, VFX, animation, subtitles, social cuts

Pricing

Straight talk on price.

Video pricing has a reputation for being foggy, and we'd like to help change that. A project can run anywhere from thousands to millions of dollars, and most of ours land in the tens of thousands. Some clients keep us on an ongoing retainer, and others bring us in for a single project. Here's roughly how it breaks down:

  • $1KsSmaller projects start here
  • Typical price range$10KsMost projects: thousands to tens of thousands
  • $1MsThe largest productions and series

We start from the top.

We won't ask for your budget first. Most salespeople like to get a number up front and work from the bottom up, because it helps them hit their targets. We start at the top: what the film needs to do, what you need, your timeline and everything else, and then we come up with a sensible number that works for all of us. Once we agree on it, we treat it like a promise. We lead the work, make the tough calls and go to bat for you so the film lands on budget, on time and true to the plan, and we keep you in the loop the whole way. The quickest way to a straight answer is to send us a message:

What we hear

The things people tell us on the first call.

A lot of people find us after a video let them down somewhere else. The same few stories come up again and again, so here they are, along with what we do about each one:

  1. “Our last video looked great and did nothing.”

That usually happens when nobody asked what the film was for. We start there, with research into your field and the people you need to reach, and build everything around the answer.

    What helps: Story, SITREP research

  2. “The story got lost between vendors.”

A strategist here, a crew there and an editor somewhere else is a lot of handoffs. The same crew carries your film from the first call to the final cut, so nothing gets dropped along the way.

    What helps: Production, editing

  3. “We went cheap and it showed.”

Some people trade quality, artistry and staying power for price and convenience, or get sold by social media hype shops that are all podcasts and Instagram ads with burned-in subtitles and nothing to say. We put the craft first, so your film still holds up years from now.

    What helps: Story, production, editing

  4. “It was gone after one post.”

One shoot should keep working for months. We plan the short cuts and stills before we roll, so nothing goes to waste.

    What helps: Production, editing

How we work

Research first, then the camera.

You came to us for our expertise, and we think the honest thing is to use it. We research your field, your peers and the people you need to reach, and then we bring you a point of view on the story worth telling. A few things stay the same on every project we make:

  1. 01

    We lead with research

Our ideas come from what we learn about your world, so your story doesn't look like everyone else's.

  2. 02

    We make it ourselves

We do the writing and creative direction from day one, and we bring the crew and gear to make it ourselves.

  3. 03

We keep our word on time

We show up early, run calm sets and deliver when we said we would.

  4. 04

    We treat people right

We communicate clearly, keep the paperwork clean and treat your people and your spaces with respect.

  5. 05

We tell you what it costs

You get a straight number and a plan up front, and we tell you early if something changes.

And in case you like numbers as much as we do, here's where all that has taken us so far:

  • 2018The year we started, in Phoenix
  • 80+Organizations we've made films with
  • 12Fields, and counting
  • 10+Years behind the camera
